Top Automakers Set Eyes on EV Market
     Top automakers are intent on launching new models this year to compensate for the period of slowdown in productivity and purchasing power during the years 2020-2021.Prachachat Business cited sources in the automotive industry, Federation of Thai Industries that brands such as Toyota, Honda, Suzuki, Ford, Nissan, Great Wall, MG and others are planning to promote new vehicles in the hybrid, plug-in hybrid or 100% electric vehicle (EV) category. This is in line with the rising trend of EVs. Mercedes-Benz, in particular, announced a plan to set up its own electric vehicle assembly line in Thailand. In addition, the Ministry of Finance and the National Electric Vehicle Policy Committee are preparing to introduce incentive measures for EV buyers through customs and excise tax deduction along with subsidies under the central budget of over 40 billion Baht, which is expected to be approved by the Cabinet and concluded in January.*
